aluminium bmx frame design

The Aluminium BMX frame has some unique features, which are the result of in depth analysis to determine any subsequent power loss and flex which may occur. These design features are explained below:

  1. The specially formed top tube incorporates an internal rib stiffener and is horizontally ovalised to form an interaction area at the head tube and seat post greater than if it were straight butted. This will greatly reduce the out of plane bending caused by forces from the handlebar region.

  2. The oversized down tube that blends from ovalised at the head tube, which helps to withstand the forces induced from front end impacts, to horizontally ovalised at the bottom bracket to reduce the out of plane bending caused by the action of pedalling.

At Pure Bicycles, we only use tubes from the best aluminium alloys available. Top quality performance is achieved with the use of SC610 A-T6 and 7003_T6 alloys; whose breaking point comfortably reaches 470N/mm2. These alloys possess a surface hardness of 135HV after ageing and heat treatment. Heat treatments act on these high Cu-Zn-Mn content aluminium alloys to guarantee high mechanical properties and superior resistance to the cyclical stresses a race frame is subjected too.

Our frames are subject to a series of exhaustive tests to ensure our customers can be assured they are purchasing a quality product.
